Alpacifica Continues Social Outreach Through Alpacks® Dog Sweaters

Alpacks® Dog Sweaters Donated to Ginger’s Pet Rescue and the Arequipa Dog Shelter in Peru. Company sponsors PAWS Walk in Seattle.

In addition to donating sweaters to Seattle-based Ginger’s Pet Rescue (http://www.gingerspetrescue.org/), Alpacks® made a “Friends” level donation to the Seattle Weekly PAWS Walk at Magnuson Park in Seattle (http://www.pawswalk.net). The company has also pledged a large sweater donation to the Arequipa Dog Shelter, a charitable organization for canines in southern Peru.

Alpaca fleece is lightweight, soft, and durable. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, does not feel rough on the skin, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber is also water resistant. There are two types of alpacas: Huacaya and Suri. The Huancaya fiber is soft and crimped, much similar to sheep’s wool. The Suri’s coat is described as being “mop-like” because of its long, thin locks.
