Finally, we take great pride in purchasing our handbags from a small, family-owned workshop in Buenos Aires. |
How do you wash alpaca sweaters?

For the best results, alpaca sweaters should be dry-cleaned. However, alpaca sweaters can be hand or machine washed (gentle cycle) in cold water. You should always lay your sweaters flat to dry. |
Are the alpacas harmed in the shearing process?

What are the benefits of alpaca fiber?

In addition to being hypoallergenic, alpaca fiber is among the softest of natural fibers. It is also renowned for its elegance, warmth, and water-wicking ability. |
Does alpaca fiber cause allergies?

Alpaca fiber is known for its hypoallergenic qualities and therefore does not itch like sheep’s wool. However, in some rare cases, alpaca fiber can itch extremely sensitive skin. |
What are alpacas?

Alpacas are members of the Camelidae family, along with camels, llamas and vicuñas. They are known for their gentle disposition and their soft, durable fiber. Although they are native to South America, you can find alpacas all over the world, including the Pacific Northwest. |

Due to recent supplier issues, we have postponed our Fair Trade application. However, Alpacifica always pay fair prices for our goods, as we have eliminated the middleman and buy directly from the local artisans. |
How is Alpacifica “socially conscious?"

Alpacifica is dedicated to the wellbeing and growth of its producers and economic growth of its suppliers. We support small, family-owned workshops whenever possible. Our philosophy is based on fair business practices and we are constantly working with our partner, Un Paso Adelante, to develop educational and healthcare programs in Latin America. |
What is the Alpacifica educational grant program?

The Educational Grant was created to provide students with non-traditional learning styles the resources they need to reach their full potential. After completing the program, the students are then encouraged to use this potential and recognize their capacity to positively impact their local communities in Latin America. |

What does Alpacifica mean?

Alpacifica, pronounced “Ahl-pah-see-fee-kah”, is combination of the words “alpaca” and “Pacific” in Spanish. It is a symbol of the links between cultures, as we move products from one part of the Pacific coast to another. |

Alpacifica’s head office is located in Seattle, Washington. The majority of our products are offered on our website, while some exclusive items can be found in boutiques across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, and California. |

Alpacifica, LLC formed in 2003 after we traveled throughout the various regions of Peru. Inspired by the classic and durable Andean fashions sold in marketplaces and high-end retail stores, we started designing our own wears. |
Where do Alpacifica products come from?

Our alpaca products and accessories come from Peru; the majority of our items are produced in Arequipa, Puno, and Lima. Alpacifica’s 100% leather purses are made in a small, family-owned workshop in Buenos Aires, Argentina. |
